Vision & Object:

Telecom has always been the passion of my life. After 50 years of outstanding career and many personal contributions to the industry, I have the same urge and desire to give back to the industry, the abundant experience, knowledge and potential acquired during my extensive and eventful career, by providing consultancy service and assistance to forward looking enterprises and entrepreneurs in Legacy and new generation Telecom & IT, in the areas of Business Management, Technology, Engineering, and Services.

(Eg: I took charge, carried and completed the overseeing Implementation of the BPL Mobile GSM Switching and managed installation of its peripheral systems including, OMC, Billing System, VMS, SMS, Special services & Customer Care with CRM & PABX/IVRS, Roaming facility and Junction circuits to PSTN including re-modifying construction strengthening of Basement and 4 floors of the building, Power Plant, Electrical Substation, Standby Generator Air-condition Plant and Microwave Tower, Testing and commissioning in flat three months. Subsequently, planned, procured system and implemented the first GSM Mobile Prepaid service in India.)

Undergone advanced training courses in Department of Telecom-India Technical & Development Circle, ALTTC, Philips-Netherlands, Hitachi-Japan, Alcatel-France & Siemens AG-Germany.

iv) Teaching experience: – Telecom Technology and Management Trainer in Department of Telecom for 4 years. – Training of Telecom Engineers- BPL Mobile for 2 years. – Telecom & GSM trainer in Siemens A.G RHQ, Dubai for 2 years. – Training Telecom Engineers in SPCNL, SIEMENS ICN, Gurgaon India, 1-1/2 years.

ii) PREVIOUS JOBS:

  1. June 2001 to January 2003: Vice President Technical Sales, Siemens Public Communication Networks Limited, Gurgaon, Haryana India. Head of Technical Sales reporting to MD SPCNL, India: Salary: Rs.48 lakhs per annum.

KRA: Training and managing Engineering staff and dealing Technical Sales and order processing in coordination with Sales, monitoring supply and coordination with Installation staff and overseeing implementation of products and services activities of all major GSM service providers in India.

Provided technology training & know how, developed a strong technical team and lead managed all pre-sales and post sales technical and commercial activities for the Mobile Telecom systems and Intelligent Network system of all GSM service providers in India.

Effectively handled the Tenders, RFQ/RFS, Project planning, Customer presentations/discussions, Negotiations, Order processing, Monitoring of supplies. Efficiently and timely managed the Implementation, Testing, Commissioning and O&M of all major GSM 2G, GPRS, EDGE and Intelligent Network systems service providers in India, in close coordination with V.P Sales and Accounts Managers.

KRA Performance: Fully achieved and helped SPCNL to do record high sales during the period.

  1. July 1999 to May 2001:Director, Technical Sales and Training, Siemens RHQ Dubai:

KRA: Provide job oriented training to technical team, lead manage pre/post sale vendor activities. Trained the technical team of the newly formed Siemens ICN regional office and handled Technical Sales for efficient sales and implementation of GSM Networks in Gulf region, India & Pakistan.

As Technical project leader; handled ETISALAT UAE and many Indian Mobile Companies accounts. KRA performance: Achieved with many new customer acquisitions and expansion job orders done.

  1. June 1997 to May 1999. 

G.M & Member Technology in BPL Telecom Business Group, Bangalore. KRA: Project Planning & Implementation, Technology support Special projects, New Business development & pushed for business diversification, Performance Monitoring and Quality Control of GSM systems and networks in all four service areas of BPL. Did technology/system selection, Procured & Implemented Intelligent network system and IVR for Mumbai network, Designed, experimented and proposed Pseudo HLR based networking now known as MVN. Designed Hot Billing based indigenous billing system.

Did daily and periodic Performance monitoring and Reporting, initiated Quality control by applying corrective measures, Pre-Monsoon/Winter inspections and precautions in all GSM systems and networks in BPL Mobile in India.

Did business development, planned and proposed for many special projects, and proposed for commercial production Proposed additional development of CTI and CRM in BPL’s voice frames for GSM Call Centres. Service Provider business of Call Centre and IT enabled services later known as BPO, a million-dollar business.

Developed and implemented plastic roaming during the delay of regular roaming happening in India in 1995. Tested out and e-wallet and USSD based Money management using mobile phones currently known as Money through Mobile (mTm) and has been pursuing Government to approve its commercial use since then. Planned and proposed for setting up International Telecom & IT Training and Consultancy. Proposed new business plan of DTH Digital TV service. Took up with Government to allow PAN India GSM service. In this elevated position I had the opportunity to travel and effectively network with major Telecom vendors and Service providers, across the world.

KRA Performance: Fully achieved. Occupying this prestigious position of Member Technology, BPL Telecom Business Group Bangalore, I was instrumental in bringing up BPL as one of the best GSM service providers in India.

  1. April 1995 to June 1997:

General Manager / SMT Member Telecom Business Group BPL Mobile Mumbai.

KRA: Plan the building, supervise construction, execute the GSM switching project, put into service, and train the staff to Operate and Maintain the system. Planned the building and supervised the building construction, did Electrical and A/C installations for BPL Mobile flagship project in Mahim, Mumbai. Planned, procured, Installed and put through GSM switching system with all peripheral network elements such as special services, GSM billing system, all value-added systems and services viz. SMS, VMS, IVRS, ACD Voice frames with CTI & CRM, OMC.

Installed and put through GSM-PSTN interconnects with C7 signalling for the first time in India and a state-of-the-art IN system based prepaid mobile service, the first in testing out and put through roaming in GSM network in India. Managed the technical team for O&M of the Switch and all peripheral systems & N/W. As SMT Member, BPL Telecom Business Group, managed all matters pertaining to Technology/ vendor selection, order processing, purchase and implementation of projects and products and brought up BPL Mobile as the technology leader.

KRA Performance: Over achieved, very much beyond the expectations of the Management. As technical head of project, lead managed and completed highly challenging project of setting up Core planning and overseeing a multi storey building construction, electrical installations, A/C systems, M/W Tower etc., in a fantastic time frame of four months despite heavy Bombay monsoon and many other hurdles.

Provided guidance and support and Training for the Technical works in BPL’s other three Mobile networks which came up later. Over all, I was instrumental in bringing up BPL Mobile as the Technology leader of the time in Telecom and GSM by developing and putting through many new products and innovative business ideas, coined the Term ‘BPL, Believe in the Best’. when GSM was new to everyone in India.

  1. March 1957 to April 1995: 

Telecom Engineer, Indian Telecom Service. ITS (A)

Joining in March 1957, I had been in Indian Telecom service for over 38 years, always delivering outstanding performance in multifarious fields, initially in the Technical & Development Circle, covering Planning of Buildings/Infrastructure, Systems and Equipment, Order placing, Procurement, Installation, Acceptance Testing and Commissioning and Project implementations, Operation & Maintenance, Management and Administration, Performance monitoring, Quality Control and Training of Technical staff in places all over the country.

Had extensive Telecom and Administrative Training, in-service courses and worked in all areas of Technical, Engineering, Acceptance Testing, Inspections, Teaching as Lecturer in Telecom Training Centres, Performance & Efficiency wing for Technical Audit and support for exercising Performance Monitoring and Quality Control and improving Efficiency and as area head of Administration of which about 20 years in Executive management positions.

To make it short, during the 38 years of my service in DoT, I had a vibrant career, always been in forefront of Technology and growth with full involvement along with and fully involved as part the evolution and growth of Telecom in India from the Magneto and Manual Telephony days to most Modern Digital Systems and networks.

KRA Performance: Had always been outstanding and consistently over performed KRA expectations. I was bestowed many excellent credits and graded OUTSTANDING in annual reports throughout my service period. I was awarded out of turn positioning and Promotions for consistent outstanding service, and personal contributions to Telecom Technology, Business & Service, for the Department of Telecom India for over 38 years.
